Congratulations on making it to 2017!
There are things that we could complain about as well as things we could celebrate. I’m choosing to move forward and thinking about 2017 as the year I’m getting things done.
I have so much to be thankful for as I’m sure you do too. Even if you have to think about it really really hard.
I’m thankful that I’m starting 2017 with my family. In under 3 months, I will have a newborn and start the whole holy-crap-what-are-we-doing process again. I have a wonderful, supportive husband that puts up with my frantic panic and hormonal crying. I also have a 15 month old terror that I’m sure was sent to test my patience, but he is the light of my world.
I’m thankful that we have somewhere to live. The last few months have been stressful, as we tried to find somewhere to store our stuff and call our temporary home while we figured everything out. We now have such a place, a one year lease and can finally get our stuff out of storage.
I’m thankful that we have a direction. I am pleased to announce that Mr Zed and I have bought 2 and 1/4 acres of pasture land and we are due to settle in the next week. We have answered our own question of “To Build or Buy” with Build! We’re paying cash and will be working on our plans over the next few months to lock down the house we want to build. Until then, I can imagine it is going to be a lot of fruit tree planting. As well as running around the land going LOOK AT WHAT WE GOT!!!
We have been reading Dave Ramsey’s “Total Money Makeover” for a while now, and while I am yet to do a review, we are also thankful that we have found it. Poor money habits can bring down those with then best of intentions. If this is an area that you have struggled with, make 2017 the year where you pull yourself up on poor money management and get it sorted!

I am definitely entering 2017 with a homesteading passion. As always, my to do list covers the fridge and with the Homesteading How To Boxes shipping out this month, it’s going to be a very busy year. I’m so excited to share my journey with others and see everything that you all come up with in your own journey!
The Zed’s are off to the beach to eat too much and watch as Baby Zed devours half of the land mass of said beach.
Even if you feel like you have nothing to look forward to, or feel thankful for, dig deep. Find that little spark of hope and blow some life into it. Soon you’ll have a fire burning to drive you through this year. Pick up a hobby, meet some new people, declutter your life and start fresh.
You deserve to have a great year. Make it happen!
Over and out,
