I was absolutely over the moon when Anna Twitto emailed me asking if I would like to review her book. As most people know, I am a book addict. Especially when it comes to books on the topic of homesteading! There are so many books out there that you could get your hands on when it comes to the topic. So what makes this one so special?
I’d just like to chuck the disclaimer out there that I was not paid for this review. The following raving is purely my own opinion!
“Your Own Hands – Self-Reliant Projects for Independent Living” would be what I consider to be an absolute fantastic book for new homesteaders. The book covers a wide range of topics rather than written to cover one topic in great depth. These topicsinclude gardening, home building and maintenance and even “artisan crafts” such as soap making!
Anna takes the time to go through each topic, instilling great tips for each topic along the way. Even though I have experience with many of the topics covered in this book, I still had multiple pieces of paper with notes at the end.
I really enjoyed the fact that there were examples to go along with the information provided. There will come a time (or in my case, a lot of times) where you follow the instructions exactly and the end product still doesn’t come out how it’s supposed to. The examples given will be reassuring for not just the beginner homesteader, but anyone reading. Knowing that the author didn’t always get it right, and suggesting solutions for possible issues, makes it all the more easy to relate to.
Whether you are just beginning your homesteading path or have been homesteading for a long time, this book will give you inspiration in spades. This Mama certainly has made her To Do List pages longer after reading! Big thumbs up from this homesteader, I hope you enjoy it too!
